Not everyones skin provides the same level of protection.  Those with paler skins tend to burn quicker and need to use higher protection factors.  It is however recommended that everyone wears an SPF all year round to protect from UV damage and premature ageing.  Make the application of an SPF part of your daily skincare routine.

The British Association of Dermatologists (www.bad.org.uk) recommend the following:

• • Protect the skin with clothing, including a hat, t-shirt and sunglasses

• • Spend time in the shade between 11am and 3pm when it’s sunny

• • Use a ‘high protection’ sunscreen of at least SPF 30 which also has high UVA protection, and make sure you apply it generously and frequently when in the sun.

• • Keep babies and young children out of direct sunlight
